FG Appoints Igwe Kingsley Onyekachi As New Registrar/CEO of CRFFN

The Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy has announced the appointment of Igwe Kingsley Onyekachi as the substantive Registrar and CEO of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN). The appointment, approved by Honourable Minister Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, marks a strategic move to enhance the efficiency and management of the council.

Onyekachi takes over from Mrs. Chinyere Uromta, who has been serving in an acting capacity. His appointment, effective immediately, is set for an initial term of four years, as stated in a letter signed by Mr. Babatunde J. Sule, Director of Maritime Services, on behalf of the Minister.

With a master’s degree in Transportation and Logistics and active membership in CRFFN, the 44-year-old Onyekachi brings both experience and commitment to his new role. Hailing from Imo State in Nigeria’s South-East, his leadership is expected to be pivotal in addressing the council’s recent challenges.

The CRFFN has faced financial struggles, including a salary payment crisis due to insolvency since January 2024. In response, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy arranged a bailout loan earlier this year to stabilize salary payments and restore confidence within the council.

The ministry hopes Onyekachi’s leadership will play a key role in repositioning CRFFN for improved governance and service delivery in Nigeria’s freight forwarding sector.
