The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced an upward review of fees for Nigerian passports, effective from September 1, 2024, as part of its ongoing efforts to maintain the quality and integrity of the country’s standard passport.

According to the new fee structure, the cost for a 32-page passport booklet with a five-year validity period will rise from ₦35,000 to ₦50,000. Similarly, the 64-page passport booklet with a ten-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, up from ₦70,000. However, the fees for passports issued to Nigerians in the diaspora will remain unchanged.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), in a statement signed by its Service Public Relations Officer, DCI KT Udo, expressed regret for any inconvenience the fee increase may cause to applicants. The NIS assured the public of its unwavering commitment to transparency and quality service delivery.

This review is aimed at ensuring that the Nigerian passport retains its quality and integrity, aligning with international standards. The NIS also reiterated its dedication to providing efficient and transparent services to all Nigerians.

The new fees will take effect from September 1, 2024.
