The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered a black 2013 Toyota Camry with registration number YAB-479BG, which was stolen at gunpoint at Nipco Junction, Abuja.
The incident occurred on January 20, 2025, at about 10:00 PM when a young woman and her fiancé, driving home from Lighthouse Estate, were intercepted by armed robbers in a blue Toyota Corolla. The assailants fired warning shots before forcing the victims out of their vehicle and escaping with it.
Following a distress call to Trademore Police Station, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) activated an emergency response, placing all police units on high alert. With support from the Command’s control room, officers at checkpoints, patrol teams, and entry and exit points within and around the FCT intensified surveillance.
Through advanced digital tracking technology, the stolen vehicle was traced to Zuba within hours. Acting on precise intelligence, police operatives swiftly moved to the location and recovered the car intact. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, with the Command’s tactical teams actively pursuing leads.
Commending the swift response of officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, urged residents to install digital tracking systems in their vehicles to facilitate quick recovery in such situations. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and encouraged the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
