The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified its efforts to combat criminal activities and safeguard critical public and private infrastructure across the territory. Through a series of strategic raids targeting identified black-spots, the Command has made remarkable progress in crime prevention, law enforcement, and the recovery of stolen assets.
These operations are part of a proactive strategy designed to disrupt criminal activities, protect public infrastructure, tackle drug abuse and trafficking, and enforce the law to ensure offenders are held accountable. The raids, carried out daily, aim to create a safer environment for residents by preventing crimes before they occur.
Raids were conducted in multiple locations, including Apo-Dutse Panteka, Diplomatic Zone, Jabi Panteka, Abuja-Kaduna Road, Area 1 (Monkey Village), Mpape, Gwarimpa, Kabusa Panteka, and Maitama, among others. These areas were identified as hotspots for criminal activities, and the police efforts have significantly disrupted the operations of offenders.
The operations have yielded significant results. A total of 348 suspects were arrested for various crimes, and 320 of them have been prosecuted and charged to court. The police seized ten trucks loaded with vandalized metals, effectively disrupting the market for stolen goods. Twenty-six manhole covers and twenty solar and streetlight poles were recovered, facilitating the restoration of essential public infrastructure. Additionally, the Command confiscated AEDC armored cables, preventing further vandalism. Large quantities of suspected Indian hemp and other hard drugs were seized, curbing drug-related activities, while the recovery of eleven firearms has reduced the circulation of dangerous weapons.
The FCT Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. SP Josephine Adeh, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized the importance of public cooperation in these efforts. She encouraged residents to report suspicious activities through designated control room numbers and other communication channels.
The Command expressed gratitude to residents and stakeholders for their ongoing support and assured them that the raids would continue to eliminate crime and maintain peace and order across the territory.
