FCT Police Neutralize Notorious Kidnapper Dogo Saleh, Disrupt Criminal Syndicate

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities, successfully neutralizing notorious kidnapper Salisu Mohammed, alias “Dogo Saleh.”

The operation, carried out by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit on March 3, 2025, led to the arrest of Mohammed at Gidan Abe Forest while he was en route to Bwari Area Council, FCT. Intelligence reports had linked him to multiple high-profile kidnappings and violent crimes along the Kaduna-Lokoja-Enugu highway.

Mohammed, a 21-year-old from Baban Saural village in Kaduna State, was identified as a key hitman for bandit leaders operating in Rijana Forest. He was known for terrorizing communities, abducting victims, and extorting large ransoms. During his arrest, police recovered an AK-49 rifle, two magazines, 60 rounds of live ammunition, and ₦3 million in ransom proceeds.

Further investigations confirmed his involvement in a series of kidnappings and killings across various locations, including Kyauta, Kike, Bagada, and Karuga villages in Chikun LGA, Kaduna. He and his gang were also linked to the abduction of a police officer’s family and an attack on a security post in Kujama Market, where two officers were killed.

Following his arrest, police launched a follow-up operation on March 4 at Kwasau Forest, Kagarko LGA, Kaduna, to dismantle his gang. However, officers were ambushed by armed bandits attempting to rescue him. In the ensuing gun battle, the police overpowered the criminals, forcing them to flee with severe injuries. Mohammed was fatally wounded by his own gang during the crossfire and later confirmed dead at Kubwa General Hospital.

The police recovered another AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and additional rounds of live ammunition. The bandits’ hideout was successfully dismantled, and operations are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing gang members.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, commended the officers for their bravery and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to maintaining security. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police via the emergency hotlines: 08032003913, 08028940883, and 07057337653.
