The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities, leading to the arrest of 245 suspects and the recovery of dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, and other crime-related items. The series of intelligence-led operations, carried out between February 6 and February 23, 2025, targeted criminal hideouts, black spots, and abandoned buildings across several locations, including Kurudu, Dutse Alhaji, Kubwa, Wuye, Galadimawa, Iddo, Kuje, Apo, Zuba, Asokoro, Karshi, Karu, and Byazhin.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, all arrested suspects are currently undergoing profiling and screening, with those found guilty set to face prosecution. During the operations, security operatives seized a cache of weapons and illicit substances, including large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, three axes, three machetes, six small tubes of glue, five handmade bongs, eight pairs of scissors, five ID cards, and several small plastic containers and pills suspected to be illegal drugs.

As part of efforts to enhance security, the FCT Police Command has also intensified surveillance on abandoned buildings and isolated areas believed to be used as hideouts for criminals. Intelligence reports revealed that some of these structures are being misused for illicit activities, including drug abuse and organized crime. In response, security checks have been increased, and several of these locations have been raided and cleared of illegal occupants. Property owners have been urged to secure their buildings to prevent criminal elements from taking advantage of them, while relevant government agencies have been encouraged to take necessary action to curb the growing concern.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring safety across the FCT and urged residents to remain vigilant. He encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activities to the Police through emergency contact numbers 08032003913, 08028940883, 07057337653, or via the Complaint Response Unit at 08107314192. The FCT Police Command remains resolute in its mission to rid the territory of criminal elements and maintain law and order.
