The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commands of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of residents in the FCT through enhanced collaboration. This pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), Olatunji Disu, to the FCT NSCDC Command headquarters in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
Dr. Olusola Odumosu, Commandant of the FCT NSCDC, welcomed CP Disu and highlighted the significance of the visit in strengthening the already robust partnership between the two security agencies. He noted that this collaboration is vital for the effective protection of the residents as well as the safeguarding of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across the territory.
“Collaboration is crucial to achieving shared goals in maintaining peace and security, as no single organization holds a monopoly on strategy in security management. We need each other because unity and teamwork are essential in effectively tackling the security challenges in the FCT and the country at large,” Odumosu stated.
The NSCDC Commandant also emphasized the Corps’ readiness to partner with the Police in ensuring that criminal activities are swiftly addressed, particularly as the holiday season approaches. He issued a stern warning to individuals with criminal intent, urging them to desist, as both organizations are actively working towards a peaceful Christmas and holiday season in the FCT.
In addition, Odumosu urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security officials, further fostering a safer community.
In his response, CP Disu underscored the critical importance of continued cooperation between the NSCDC and NPF. He called for timely intelligence sharing, as well as joint training sessions and engagement in activities like sports to enhance the bond between the agencies.
The Commissioner also expressed his unwavering commitment to sustaining the collaboration, ensuring that it cascades down to the officers and men of both organizations during field operations. He praised the existing relationship with the NSCDC Commandant, whom he described as a “brother, friend, and colleague.”
To mark this occasion, both security heads exchanged gifts as a symbol of mutual respect and a shared dedication to national security.
