FAMILIARIZATION TOUR: NSCDC To Collaborate With NDLEA To Mop Up All Crime In Anambra State

As a way of fraternizing himself with Service Commanders in Anambra State, the newly posted Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Mr. Vincent Ogu JP, has embarked on a familiarization tour of Sister Security Agencies.

Mr Ogu who assumed duty in June, commenced his tour on Monday, 5th of July, 2021, with a visit to the State Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Mohammed Misbahu Idris at the Command Headquarters Awka.

In his speech, the State Commandant , Mr. Vincent Ogu JP, stated that the purpose of the visit was to familiarize and renew the existing relationship between NSCDC and NDLEA in the State. He stressed the need for both agencies to collaborate in the fight against drug abuse towards having a drug -free Anambra State.

Commandant Ogu said that the Corps is always open to liase with NDLEA in the provision of operational support and intelligence gathering to sustain the tempo and stem the tide of illegal use of drugs and psychotropic substances in the State.

In his response, the NDLEA Commander, Mohammed Misbahu Idris, after welcoming the State Commandant to Anambra, described the need for more collaboration between the NDLEA and the NSCDC as very important to mop up all crime related issues in the State.

According to him, crimes were generally triggered by the intake and consumption of illicit drugs. Idris, thereafter, pledged his commitment to continuously synergize with NSCDC in seeing an end to this social menace. Other issues bordering on synergy and security challenges in the State were extensively discussed.

Consequently, at the end of the visit, both agencies resolved to work harmoniously in order to promote safety and Security of Ndi Anambra and residents alike.
