Lagos Area Manager of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Engineer Sarat Braimah, has been recognized as the “Most Influential Woman in Maritime” by the Commonwealth Business Women Africa (CBW-Africa).
The award, presented at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, on Monday night, celebrates her outstanding contributions to the maritime industry, her role as a mentor to aspiring young women in Nigeria, and her leadership as the first female Area Manager of NIWA in Lagos.
Engineer Braimah’s transformative achievements within NIWA have earned her the admiration of key industry stakeholders and the agency’s management. Her commitment to effective human resource management and sectoral development continues to set a high standard in the industry.
In her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed her dedication to empowering young people, especially women, in the maritime sector.
“Thank you, CBW-Africa. I pray that women serving our country, Nigeria, and Africa remain steadfast and resilient. Nigeria needs our women, and I hope they will always lead positively,” she stated.
