“As Igwe Ufuma Showers Enconiums To The Quintessential Senator”
The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and frontline PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Anambra State, Senator Lady Uche Ekwunife (Iyom) had on 10th January 2021, paid a scheduled visit to the traditional ruler of Umunze and Chairman of the powerful Old Aguata Union (OAU), HRM, Igwe Promise Eze (Abilikete Umunze) at his palace, in Umunze, Orumba South council area of Anambra.
According to Ekwunife, the royal visit was to thank the monarch for his unalloyed supports in the time past, also, to notify him of her intention to govern Anambra State and receive his royal blessings.
The number one lawmaker while becrying the decayed nature of the State, told her host, Igwe Umunze that she is in the race to win, and to change the status quo by ushering in new strategies that would transform the one time Light of The Nation.
Ekwunife stated that she has the capacity and ability to transform Anambra into an enviable heights, saying that with her insightful and wonderful achievements as a former Reps member and as a sitting Senator, that she is most qualified for the top job.
Ekwunife reiterated her resolve that if given the mantle, that she will conduct Local Government elections in her first year in office and cut the cost of governance to the bearest minimum.
She said it’s time to have a gender change in leadership and governance in Anambra, in order to bring in desirable and result-oriented change and said she has all it takes to govern ndi Anambra.
Responding, Igwe Umunze said Ekwunife has distinguished herself amongst her contemporaries in the race especially those from OAU extraction.
He said he is well pleased with the achievements of the ebullient Senator to the OAU despite being married out.
The custodian of culture in Umunze told her guest, Senator Ekwunife that she has all his support and that of OAU; described her as their daughter in whom they are well pleased.
The paramount ruler of Umunze alongside his cabinet Chiefs however, blessed the Senator on her bid to govern the State, praying that it shall come into fruition because she is capable and has the capacity to replace Anambra to her lost Glory!
The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Lady Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), proceeded to Ufuma, in Orumba North council area, on a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe S. Chika Uchime(Mba Diji 111 of Ufuma).
The workaholic Senator told Igwe Uchime that she came to thank him for all the supports he, alongside the Igwe’s in OAU gave her during the 2019 Senatorial election. She maintained that she seeked for their support during the senate race despite being another district, but that their prayer immensely contributed to her resounding victory.
Ekwunife told the Ufuma monarch that she has come again to notify him of her intention to run in the upcoming Governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State this year, and seeks his blessings and support.
The Senator expressed dismay on the dilapidated road leading to the king’s abode, saying it is not worthing to the first class king like Igwe Ufuma, she opined that traditional institutions always need the full supports of the government at all levels for effective traditional rulership to their subjects.
She told the monarch that she will change the face of Anambra if elected as governor, maintaining that she will give full autonomy to the LGAs in order to develop the rural communities. Ekwunife said it is time to test the women in leadership for development, saying they are beacon of development.
Igwe Ufuma while responding, told Senator Ekwunife he does not have doubt in her capacity and capability to govern the State, saying that by her qualifications, antecedents, pedigree and achievements which reverberates throughout the State that she has all it takes to lead the State.
The Ufuma monarch who was marvelled by seeing their daughter, the former ASUBEB Chairman, Dr Rose Nwankwo on the Senator’s entourage, thanked the ebullient Senator for her supports in OAU, saying she has consistently been a good daughter of the soil.
He alluded the Senator saying that OAU benefited greatly in her developmental trajectory which spread across the State and assured the Senator that victory awaits her and his prayers, blessings and supports will always go with her.
