Ekwunife Reiterates Commitment To Women Empowerment And Development Programmes


“Drums Support For PDP Ahead Of November 6 election”

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has reiterated commitment to promoting women’s economic empowerment and development programmes through robust legislative engagements, adding that she would keep advocating for women’s rights to social, economic and political opportunities in Nigeria. She noted that women have always demonstrated ingenuity and excellence in their various fields of endeavours. This was disclosed in a press statement by Mr Kingsley Ubani, SA Media to Senator Uche Ekwunife.

Ekwunife, who made this known on Sunday, September, 12, 2021, at Nri Town Hall when she was hosted in Nri community by the women under the aegis of Eyom Nri, reassured that she would continue to offer unrivalled representation and attract the dividends of democracy to constituents.

Commending the entire community for their continuous and unflinching support in her political sojourn, the grassroots-friendly Senator heaped praise on the entire community, saying she is always appreciative of them. Ekwunife eulogized the President General of Nri Kingdom, Chief (Dr) Kelvin Obiegbunam (Oba Ochendo) for his sterling leadership, noting that he has a listening ear and the interest of the community at heart.

The performing lawmaker reeled out her achievements which cuts across the communities she represents, while assuring that developmental projects execution would be extended to few communities that were not captured in the last fiscal budget.

Regarding the November 6 election, Ekwunife described the Peoples Democratic Party as the political platform of choice for Ndi Anambra, stressing that the party is positioned in strengthening democracy and economic opportunities in the state. She encouraged Ndi Anambra to ensure that their votes count, noting that nobody will be allowed to rig the election.

Continuing, Ekwunife said that good governance has no religious colouration, adding that Ndi Anambra are yearning for security, quality education, affordable healthcare services, infrastructural development, developmental policies amongst others.

The Federal Lawmaker advised the people of the state to be security conscious and report suspicious activities happening in their immediate environment to the appropriate quarters.

Welcoming the Senator, the President General of Nri Kingdom, Chief Dr Kelvin Obiegbunam described Ekwunife as a Senator of the first rank who puts quality representation above any other consideration.

Speaking further, the President General said that Ekwunife has kept all her campaign promises and is still doing more for the zone. He assured the community’s continuous support towards the lawmaker, adding that the community would always align politically with the Senator because the Nri Kingdom has no political party once it comes to Ekwunife.

Also speaking, the President General of Women Wing, Mrs. Anthonia Uke extolled the contributions of Ekwunife aimed at promoting women economic and development programmes. She noted that Ekwunife is the most accessible Senator in Nigeria and her feats stand tall amongst her contemporaries.

Talking on, Mrs. Uke promised that the women of Nri community would always queue behind Ekwunife’s political aspirations, saying that she remains the best in the history of the zone.

The lawmaker also graced a similar meeting held at Chief Sir Dominic Ifezue Hall, Ebede Square, Nri Ward II. The meeting also had many stakeholders of Nri community in attendance.
