Ekwunife Receives In Audience Association Of Heads Of Federal Establishments, Anambra State Chapter


Promises To Support The Association’s Community Development Initiatives

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife PhD, on Thursday, August 13, 2021, received a delegation of the Association of Heads of Federal Establishments, Anambra state chapter. The courtesy call was centered on identifying and fostering a cordial working relationship with the Senator and sought support via legislation that will help the association achieve its goals for community development.

The meeting which was held at Senator Uche Ekwunife liaison office, Awka had the delegation discussed a number of issues with the Senator, particularly training youths and women on how to cultivate onions, establishing a snail and grasscutter farming as well as installation of solar panels to light up the hinterlands across the state which according to them, will aid night market. In his opening remarks, the leader of the delegation and state coordinator of Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Mr. Dara Chijioke Okechukwu hailed Ekwunife for being a strong voice on the floor of the senate and her empowerment programmes aimed at alleviating sufferings of the people. He noted that the Senator stands tall amongst the best lawmakers, adding that Ekwunife has developmental projects to her credit and should be emulated by her colleagues.

“We are aware that you have the interest of youths and women at heart, this courtesy call is to solicit for your support to embark on community projects which include training youths and women on how to establish snail and grasscutter farming and installation of solar panels to light up the hinterlands which will aid night business by extending their hours of commercial activities”, Mr. Okechukwu noted.

Welcoming, Ekwunife commended the intentions of the association to embark on community development, describing youths as the life wire of every country and community. The Senator noted that it’s very rare to see civil servants embarking on community projects, while advising that public servants should not limit themselves to their job descriptions.

The Senator, who through her foundation named Senator Ekwunife Foundation is empowering lives and building human capital said that even though expectations are high that she would continue to use instrumentality of the legislation towards delivering quality representation.

“It is very rare to see civil servants embarking on community projects, looking at the intention behind it I must say that it is good and I will align to this project by working out how to accommodate them in the budget” assured Ekwunife.

Speaking further, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation lamented over the worsening security challenges, saying that government at all levels should not handle the situation with kid gloves, and we must be watchful and take charge of our environment. She said that the primary responsibility of every government is to guarantee security of citizen’s lives and protection of their property.

On the upcoming Anambra state gubernatorial election, the Chairperson of the PDP campaign council noted that she is working assiduously to ensure that PDP wins Anambra state. Ekwunife said that a vote for PDP is for redemption of the country, and going forward Igbo presidency.

While delivering the vote of thanks, the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Purity FM, Awka, Engr. Uchenna Chukwuedo appreciated Ekwunife for the timely advise and support, adding that the essence of coming is because Ekwunife is a mother to everybody. He pleaded with the Senator to take the ideas to other members of her party. “So that the association will make lives better for the people of the state”, he concluded.
