The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife PhD, Thursday, August 12, 2021, joined the family of late Chief Cyril O. Ike (Ezeigbomankeonyeneme) of Ngo village, Igbo-Ukwu in Aguata LGA to bid farewell to their late matriarch, Nneochiora Patricia Ike. This was disclosed in a press statement by Mr Kingsley Ubani, SA Media to Senator Uche Ekwunife.
Late Mrs Ike was the mother of Dr Kelvin Ike. Dr Ike is the Acting Secretary, Social Development Secretariat and a close friend to Senator Ekwunife.
Speaking at the funeral ceremony, Ekwunife described the late Nneochiora Ike as a patriotic Nigerian and great woman who invested heavily on the life of people. The Igbo-Ukwu born Senator said that she knows the family too well and will always identify with them in both good and trying times. Ekwunife prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest in heaven.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, on behalf of her family, extended condolences to Dr Ike and the entire family.
According to the statement, the late Mrs Ike died at the age of 81.
On the Senator’s entourage were former Managing Director of Anambra state Physical Planning Board Chief Victor Okpoko, former Chairman ASUBEB, Dr. Rose Nwankwo, former Accountant General of Anambra state, Mrs. Helen Nwaeri, Legislative Aide to the Senator, Mrs. Ify Chinwuko, Comrade ABC Ubani, Lolo Ifeyinwa Abunyie amongst others.
