EFCC, Navy Join Forces To Fight Against Oil Theft

The Port Harcourt Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Nwanneka Nwokike has called for increased collaboration between the EFCC and Navy in the fight against illegal oil bunkering and other economic crimes.

He made the call on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the Nigerian Navy Intelligence School, NNIS, Obima, Rivers State while delivering a lecture on the ”History, Roles and Organisation of the EFCC” to trainee officers of the Nigerian Navy.

Nwokike took the trainee officers and ratings on an excursion drive through the history, roles, structure, organization and detailed works of the EFCC, drawing particular attention to collaboration which is needed in curbing corruption within the Niger Delta region.

“We, therefore, implore you all to be ambassadors of the fight against the common enemy of our society, which is corruption”, he said.

Nwokike, during the lecture, told the students that their job is crucial as both organizations collaborate to ensure that illegal oil bunkering activities are completely eradicated.

“However, I want to let you know that, your job responsibility is key to EFCC, hence the two agencies cannot work separately in dealing with bunkerers.

“The two must work together as a team, which is why coordination and collaboration between the two agencies become very significant”, he said.
