In celebration of the Nigerian Navy’s 69th anniversary, the Headquarters Eastern Naval Command hosted a vibrant Inter-Agency Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday, 28 May 2025, at the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) VICTORY Volleyball Court in Calabar.

The competition featured high-energy performances and healthy rivalry among teams from the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, and Nigerian Police Force. The tournament not only displayed athletic prowess but also fostered unity and cooperation among Nigeria’s key security agencies.

Distinguished officers were present to witness the event, including the Chief Staff Officer of the Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral D.M. Ndanusa, who represented the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command. Also in attendance were the Commander of the Eastern Fleet, Rear Admiral K.O. Oguntuga, the Commander of NNS VICTORY, and several other senior officers.

In his remarks, Rear Admiral Ndanusa highlighted the essence of the event, noting that while individual excellence is important, national security thrives on collaboration and mutual support. “The strength of our operations and defense lies not only in individual prowess but in teamwork—both on the court and in the line of duty,” he stated.

The tournament kicked off with a ceremonial shot by Rear Admiral Ndanusa, setting the tone for a day filled with spirited competition.
