Eastern Naval Command Conducts Free Medical Rhapsody To Mark 2025 Navy Week Celebration

As part of activities marking the 69th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy, the Eastern Naval Command on Monday, 26th May 2025, conducted a Free Medical Rhapsody at Millennium Park, Calabar, offering a wide range of healthcare services to members of the host community.

The medical outreach was conducted under the leadership of the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral S.A. Akinwande, and was flagged off by the Chief Staff Officer of the Command, Rear Admiral D.M. Ndanusa, who represented the FOC at the event.

Present at the event were the Fleet Commander, Eastern Fleet, Rear Admiral K.O. Oguntuga, Principal Staff Officers of the Command, the Commander Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, as well as senior officers, officers, and ratings of the Eastern Naval Command Calabar Area.

The medical outreach provided free healthcare services, including blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, hepatitis B and C screening, malaria testing, and medical consultations. Beneficiaries also received free medications, reading glasses, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, among other items.

The initiative witnessed a large turnout, with members of the host community expressing appreciation for the Navy’s continuous efforts to improve their well-being.

According to the Command, the Medical Rhapsody is part of its civil-military relations strategy, aimed at strengthening its relationship with the host community while providing much-needed medical assistance to underserved populations.

The Nigerian Navy Week celebration continues with other lined-up activities across its formations, reinforcing its commitment to national security, community engagement, and service to humanity.
