In a spirit of solidarity with the Christian and Muslim communities, the Department of State Services (DSS) conveys heartfelt greetings as they embark on the Lenten and upcoming Ramadan seasons. Acknowledging the profound significance of these sacred periods, the DSS Management extends wishes for peace, unity, and harmony to all believers.

Recognizing the importance of maintaining the sanctity of these religious rites, the DSS appeals to worshippers to foster understanding, compassion, and respect for one another throughout and beyond these observances. The management cautions against economic exploitation, sabotage, or profiteering during these significant obligations, emphasizing the ungodliness of illegal practices such as price gouging and unethical marketing tactics.

Believers are urged to uphold high standards, ensuring that everyone can observe their religious duties with ease and dignity. The Service encourages clerics and religious leaders to prioritize empathy, cooperation, and conflict prevention, extending these values beyond the specific periods mentioned.

Addressing the media, the DSS encourages accurate reporting that contributes to national security objectives and interests. Residents are advised to remain vigilant against potential public dangers, particularly Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and report any suspicious activities or objects to relevant security agencies.

The DSS emphasizes the importance of tolerance, bonds of brotherhood, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence among the populace. As the nation undergoes these spiritual journeys during the Lenten and Ramadan periods, the Service reaffirms its commitment to providing strategic intelligence to sister agencies, contributing to a safe and secure country.

Director of PR & Strategic Communications, Peter Afunanya, Ph.D., fsi, mnipr, expressed these sentiments from the National Headquarters in Abuja on the 8th of March, 2024. He urged everyone to cherish and share the values that unite us, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society based on the principles of mercy, tolerance, forgiveness, and collective responsibility.
