The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a resolute dismissal of the recent spate of false accusations made by Jackson Ude via his Twitter handle @jacksonpbn against the person and office of the Director-General of the DSS, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi, CFR, fwc.
In a statement released by the Service, it emphatically refuted the allegations, categorically affirming that neither the DG nor anyone acting on his directive has embezzled staff subsidy grants. The Service clarified that no such grant has been allocated or disbursed to the DSS, assuring staff that their due remuneration will be provided as customary. It further emphasized the comprehensive welfare provisions for both active and retired personnel under Mr. Bichi’s leadership, a fact open to verification.
Addressing the alleged “goodbye allowance” attributed to the DGSS, the statement dismissed the claim as a figment of the writer’s imagination and devoid of factual basis. The Service highlighted the adherence to established public service rules and underscored that even if a severance package were to be granted at the end of the tenure, it would be within standard public service regulations.
The Service refuted Ude’s attempt to tarnish the image of Mr. Bichi, outlining the DGSS’s track record of accountability, transparency, and unwavering integrity since his recall from retirement in 2018. Mr. Bichi’s commitment to staff welfare and prudent resource management remains a cornerstone of his tenure, contrary to Ude’s misleading assertions.
Acknowledging the potential motives behind Ude’s actions, the DSS clarified its focus on maintaining national security and dismissed Ude’s attempts to create unnecessary controversies, particularly in relation to the 2023 Presidential election and subsequent litigations.
The public has been urged to disregard the false narratives propagated by Ude, described as a “known fake news merchant” seeking to misinform and incite division. Additionally, the DSS announced its intention to pursue legal measures to address these defamatory accusations.
