Dr. Aniebonam Advises Customs of Neutrality Amidst NAGAFF- ANLCA Rivalry


Dr. Aniebonam Okechukwu Boniface, Founder of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has expressed concern over the potential rivalry between NAGAFF and Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA). This is even as the advises the Controller General of Customs, Mr Adewale Adeniyi to maintain neutrality when dealing with the issue.

Regretting his absence due to pressing legal matters, Dr. Aniebonam acknowledged the pivotal role of the Nigeria Customs Service in the nation’s development. However, he cautioned against entanglement in avoidable disputes, specifically highlighting the need for neutrality amidst the ongoing competition between NAGAFF and ANLCA.

In his address, Dr. Aniebonam urged the Customs Service leadership to remain focused on their statutory duties, advising against being drawn into the rival associations’ affairs. Emphasizing the importance of concentrating efforts on enhancing professionalism in customs administration and facilitating international trade, he stressed the necessity of avoiding distractions posed by internal industry rivalries.

Acknowledging the significant potential for conflict and distraction inherent in such rivalries, Dr. Aniebonam underscored the importance of maintaining a neutral stance. He urged the Customs Service to prioritize their core responsibilities and uphold professionalism while avoiding any involvement in the tensions between NAGAFF and ANLCA.

The message, while regretting the ongoing discord, aimed to refocus attention on the primary duties of the Nigeria Customs Service and advocated for a neutral approach to avoid potential disruptions and maintain efficiency in trade facilitation.
