The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner CP Wale Abass, has achieved significant success in recent operations, rescuing a kidnapped victim and making arrests in separate incidents.
The swift response from the Delta State Police Command led to the successful rescue of an individual (name withheld) abducted from Ugolo community in Okpe LGA. Acting on the Commissioner’s directives, the DPO Orerokpe, CSP Paul Oboware, initiated a technically intelligence-led investigation. On November 10, 2023, at approximately 1900 hours, the police mobilized and stormed the kidnappers’ hideout in Ugolo Community. The kidnappers, realizing the approaching law enforcement, relocated the victim to Erueni Community while negotiating for ransom. The police team persisted, tracking the miscreants to their new hideout, where they were compelled to abandon the victim in an uncompleted building. The rescued victim has been safely reunited with his family, and efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing.
On November 8, 2023, operatives of the Eagle-Net Special Squad, based on credible information, apprehended Israel Akitia, a 34-year-old male, in Ugolo Community, Okpe LGA. A search of his residence led to the recovery of a locally fabricated cut-to-size gun with three live cartridges. Investigations are currently underway. Additionally, on November 9, 2023, during a stop-and-search operation by the Police visibility patrol team from Agbarho division along the Five Junction axis, Agbarho, two adult male suspects were spotted. The suspects fled into a nearby bush upon seeing the patrol team, leaving behind a bag containing a locally fabricated pistol. Efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing, with the recovered exhibit in custody.
Commissioner CP Wale Abass commended the people of Delta State for their cooperation, contributing to the relative peace observed in the ember months. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police through the Command Control Room or the Public Relations Office.
