The Delta State Police Command has achieved a significant milestone in its fight against crime with the discovery and raid of a criminal hideout in Agbarho. The operation led to the recovery of three AK-49 rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and 207 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
On May 30, 2024, at approximately 10:50 AM, the Command received an intelligence report from a vigilant member of the Agbarho community regarding the location of suspected kidnappers terrorizing Ughelli, Agbarho, Warri, Sapele, and surrounding areas. Acting on this information, DPO Agbarho Division CSP Josephine Ekebuike swiftly organized and led police operatives to the bush area near Uwurghelli village by the rail tracks. The team cordoned off the area and conducted an intensive search, discovering sack bags hidden in the bush containing the recovered firearms and ammunition. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Commissioner of Police Abaniwonda Olufemi commended the DPO and the Agbarho Police Station team for their quick and effective response to the intelligence. He emphasized the importance of police-community partnerships in achieving optimal results in crime prevention and urged the public to continue to trust and collaborate with the police. CP Olufemi reiterated the command’s commitment to promptly acting on credible information to prevent criminal activities and assured residents that all efforts will be made to identify, apprehend, and prosecute criminal elements.
