In response to a violent protest staged by motorcycle (Okada) riders in Asaba today, 18th March 2024, the Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda, swiftly intervened to restore peace and order within the metropolis.
The protest, which erupted over alleged mistreatment by members of the State Taskforce enforcing the ban on late-hour operations of tricycles and motorcycles, saw demonstrators storming the taskforce office along Summit Road. He assured residents of the police command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property, thereby fostering a safer and more harmonious society for all Deltans.
