The Delta State Police Command says its recent operations have led to the arrest of six suspected kidnappers, the rescue of three individuals, and the recovery of twelve stolen vehicles, highlighting significant achievements in combating crime within the state.
In a recent press briefing held at the Delta State Command headquarters, Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda S. Olufemi, highlighted the commendable achievements of the command in combating crime within the state.
CP Olufemi began by acknowledging the strategic deployment of police personnel in Ughelli, which resulted in the successful arrest of six suspected kidnappers. This operation also led to the recovery of firearms and the rescue of three kidnapped victims.
Among the notable achievements outlined by the Commissioner were the death of a suspected kidnapper and the rescue of victims following a gun battle in Okuno, Orogun Ughelli North LGA.
Additionally, a suspect named Sofia Nkwor was apprehended for dumping her one-year-old child in a well, leading to the child’s rescue. The command also arrested three suspected car snatchers and recovered twelve stolen vehicles in Benin City and Warri.
Another significant arrest was made in Bomadi, where a suspect was producing and selling counterfeit alcoholic beverages. Furthermore, police operatives, in collaboration with vigilantes, rescued a kidnapped victim in Ughelli and arrested two suspects.
In Ogwashi-Uku, a suspect was apprehended with locally made guns and live cartridges. Three suspects were arrested for stabbing a tricycle rider and stealing his tricycle in Okpe LGA, with the tricycle recovered in Katsina State. Several illicit drugs and a locally made gun were recovered from a suspect in Ughelli, and a suspected armed robber was apprehended in Udu, with an English-made Beretta pistol recovered.
CP Olufemi concluded the briefing by reaffirming the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of residents. He urged citizens to report any security concerns to the nearest police station or command headquarters.
