In preparation for the upcoming Local Government elections, the Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, visited the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Asaba today. Accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Operations, the squadron commander of the 31 Police Mobile Force (PMF), and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) from the state’s twenty-five LGAs, the CP inspected both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials.
CP Olufemi issued a directive mandating that DPOs personally oversee the safe transport of these materials to their respective destinations, ensuring their security and integrity. He assured residents and voters that the Delta State Police Command is committed to conducting a peaceful and orderly election.
Additionally, CP Olufemi reiterated the enforcement of movement restrictions on election day, from 8 AM to 3 PM. He noted, however, that NABTEB examination students and individuals on essential duties will be exempt from this restriction. The CP called on all electorates to remain law-abiding and maintain peace throughout the election process.
