Delta State Commissioner Of Police Pledges Effective Policing In Courtesy Visit To Governor


In a significant move towards enhancing security in Delta State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda S. Olufemi, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Rt (Hon) Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State. The meeting, which took place on February 12, 2024, at the State Government House in Asaba, saw CP Olufemi pledging effective policing to achieve a safer Delta State.

Accompanied by members of the Command Management Team, CP Olufemi expressed gratitude to IGP Kayode Egbetokun for entrusting him with the mandate of ensuring the safety of Deltans. He acknowledged the cooperation and partnership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the State executive council, and the people of Delta State in the fight against crime and criminality.

During his address, CP Olufemi assured the Governor and Deltans that crime would be significantly reduced during his administration. He emphasized that officers and men of the Command would respect the rights of all citizens while carrying out their assigned duties, highlighting that security is a collective responsibility.

In response, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori welcomed the Commissioner of Police and his management team. The Governor urged CP Olufemi to fulfill the promise of ensuring that all Deltans can sleep with their two eyes closed, free from fear and attacks. The Governor reiterated his commitment to the M.O.R.E agenda, focusing on enhancing peace and security in the state. He commended the efforts of the outgone Commissioner of Police, AIG Wale Abass, and pledged continuous support to the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the state.

Governor Oborevwori announced the inauguration of the Police trust fund in the state, promising support and encouraging stakeholders to partner with the state in supporting the trust fund. Recognizing the vehicular-related challenges faced by the Police Command, the Governor affirmed his commitment to providing vehicles to support the work of the Police in the state. This gesture aims to strengthen the partnership between the state government and the police, ultimately ensuring safety and curbing crime in both rural and urban areas.

The visit concluded with a positive outlook for collaboration between the Delta State Government and the Police Command, fostering a safer and more secure environment for the people of Delta State.
