On June 22, 2023, at around 10:20 AM, officers from the ‘B’ Division Warri, led by DPO SP Bolarinwa Alabi, responded to a distress call regarding an armed robbery along Ugborikoko/Giwa-Amu airport road in Warri. The report stated that armed hoodlums were operating in an unregistered black Toyota Corolla car.

Upon receiving the information, the team swiftly proceeded to the scene. As the hoodlums spotted the advancing police team, they opened fire.
In response, the police team engaged in a fierce gunfight with the criminals. During the exchange, three of the hoodlums were fatally wounded, while the rest managed to escape with bullet injuries.

Unfortunately, the injured suspects succumbed to their wounds while being transported to the hospital. The seized evidence includes a locally fabricated cut-to-size gun, two live cartridges, an unregistered black Toyota Corolla car, and eight different vehicle keys. A manhunt is currently underway to capture the remaining fleeing suspects.

In a separate incident on the same day at approximately 10:30 AM, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) operatives were conducting visibility and confidence-building patrols along Asaba-Benin Express Road near Issele Asagba.

They noticed a suspicious-looking young man carrying a sack bag, who appeared to be waiting for a vehicle. As soon as the operatives disembarked from their vehicle, the suspect fled, abandoning the sack bag. The officers pursued him, but he managed to escape. Upon inspecting the abandoned bag, they discovered a pump-action gun and six live cartridges. Every effort is being made to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Wale Abass, urges the public, especially residents of Delta State, to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious individuals or activities in their surroundings to the nearest police station or through the following contact numbers.
