Delta State Police Command has made significant progress in the fight against crime, following a series of successful operations that led to the arrest of several suspects involved in armed robbery, cultism, and kidnapping. The command also recovered an array of firearms, including a G3 rifle, a pump action gun, fabricated Beretta pistols, and locally fabricated guns.

On the 17th of January 2025, at approximately 09:23 hours, operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) conducted a routine stop-and-search along Ibusa Road in Asaba. During the operation, a tricycle carrying two men, Ogochukwu Stephen (25) and Christian Emmanuel (24), was flagged down. Upon searching them, two rounds of 9mm live ammunition were found. Following further investigation, a search warrant was executed at their residence, where two fabricated Beretta pistols and one improvised gun were recovered. The suspects have been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing.

Later the same day, at around 14:10 hours, acting on a tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbarho Division mobilized his patrol teams to the residence of 40-year-old Eriga Enyuche. A search conducted at his home led to the discovery of one G3 rifle, one pump action gun, and a cutlass hidden inside the ceiling of his one-room apartment. The suspect has been arrested, and investigations are continuing.

The following day, on the 18th of January 2025, at around 18:00 hours, the DPO of Bomadi Division received intelligence that suspected cultists were brandishing weapons in a show of power. In response, operatives, along with local vigilantes, launched an operation that resulted in the arrest of Felix Emizibo (29), who was found in possession of one fabricated Beretta pistol. Preliminary investigations revealed that Emizibo had purchased the firearm from his uncle for 150,000 Naira. He is currently in custody, and further investigations are underway.

CP Olufemi Abaniwonda commended the officers and men of the command for their dedication to ensuring the safety and security of Delta State. He reaffirmed his commitment to protecting Deltans and urged the public to continue providing the police with credible and timely information to assist in ongoing operations.
