Dangote Petroleum Refinery Slashes Diesel Price To N940, Aviation Fuel To N980

In yet another move to alleviate the economic burden on Nigerians, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a significant reduction in the prices of diesel and aviation fuel. The refinery, owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has lowered the price of diesel to N940 per litre and aviation fuel to N980 per litre.

This latest price adjustment follows the refinery’s recent reduction to N1,000 per litre for diesel, just two weeks ago, which was met with widespread acclaim. The new price of N940 applies to customers purchasing five million litres and above, while customers buying one million litres and above will enjoy the price of N970 per litre.

Mr. Anthony Chiejina, Head of Communication at Dangote Petroleum Refinery, affirmed that the price reduction is part of the company’s commitment to mitigating the economic challenges faced by Nigerians. He disclosed a strategic partnership with MRS Oil and Gas stations, ensuring affordable fuel prices across their stations nationwide.

Chiejina emphasized that retail buyers can now access diesel at prices as low as N1,050 per litre and aviation fuel at N980 per litre at major airports where MRS operates. This partnership aims to prevent consumers from purchasing fuel at exorbitant prices, thereby promoting affordability and accessibility.

Dangote’s continuous efforts to reduce fuel prices have garnered praise from various quarters. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu commended Dangote for his entrepreneurial initiative in the initial price reduction, hailing it as a significant achievement.

The latest price reduction has also drawn appreciation from industry stakeholders. Mr. Ajayi Kadiri, Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), lauded Dangote Refinery’s decision, highlighting its positive impact on the national economy. He emphasized the potential ripple effects across critical sectors such as industry, transportation, logistics, and agriculture, which could contribute to easing the high inflation rate in the country and facilitating the revival of businesses.

With this successive reduction in diesel prices, Dangote Petroleum Refinery continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the welfare of Nigerians and driving positive change in the country’s energy landscape.
