Dangote Cement Plc has officially refuted claims linking one of their trucks to a tragic accident on the Okene-Lokoja bypass in Kogi State, where several passengers died following a collision with a bus. The company released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.

Tony Chiejina, the Chief Branding & Communications Officer for Dangote Group, clarified in the statement that the truck involved was not part of the company’s fleet. “The truck in question belongs to a third party and is not part of our logistics operations,” Chiejina stated. He emphasized that the company’s rigorous safety and maintenance protocols make such an incident involving their trucks highly unlikely.

Dangote Cement pointed out that it has implemented multiple measures to prevent road accidents, including regular and thorough training programs for drivers and routine maintenance checks on all its vehicles. These initiatives underscore the company’s commitment to safety and its proactive approach to minimizing road mishaps.

The company urged the public and the media to correct the misinformation and avoid associating Dangote Cement with the accident. “We urge everyone to disregard the erroneous news linking our truck to the tragic event,” the statement concluded.
