The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) demonstrated their commitment to inter-agency collaboration and work-life balance by co-leading a 5km walk on Saturday, August 17, 2024. The event, tagged “Work-Life Balance,” was jointly led by the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, and the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Muhammad.
The walk, which commenced at the FRSC Headquarters at 6 a.m., saw officers from both agencies traverse Herbert Macaulay Way, pass through the Wuse Market traffic light, and return to the FRSC Headquarters via Maputo Street. The event aimed to strengthen the bond between the NCS and FRSC, while also promoting the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance among officers.
CGC Adeniyi emphasized the significance of the event in enhancing the relationship between the two agencies, particularly in their joint efforts to curb the influx of smuggled vehicles on Nigerian roads. He expressed his satisfaction with the exercise and assured that the NCS would continue to participate in such activities on a monthly basis.
“I believe that this walk has not only strengthened our friendship but also highlighted the potential for greater collaboration between our agencies. Together, we can ensure that every vehicle on our roads has paid the correct duties,” Adeniyi stated.
Corps Marshal Shehu Muhammad echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the role of social activities in fostering unity and building a prosperous nation. He stressed the importance of good health for productivity and reiterated that the monthly exercise would continue.
“I am grateful to CGC Adeniyi and his team for their active participation in today’s event. This partnership reflects the strong bond and synergy between our agencies,” Muhammad said.
The event concluded with both leaders expressing their commitment to further strengthening the collaboration between the NCS and FRSC, with a focus on ensuring that their joint efforts continue to yield positive results for the nation.
