Customs FOU “C” Decorates 49 Promoted Officers, Declares Seizures Worth Over 5 Billion Naira In 2023


In a ceremony held on Wednesday, the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone “C,” decorated 46 officers who were promoted in the zone.

The occasion also marked the announcement of substantial seizures worth over Five Billion Naira, Three Hundred and Fifty-One Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty-Six Thousand, Three Hundred and Ninety (N5,351,826,390.00) only, in total DPV (Duty Paid Value) during the 2023 fiscal year.

The promotions saw officers elevated across various ranks, with commendable advancements such as three officers from Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) to Assistant Comptroller (AC) and five officers from Superintendent of Customs (SC) to Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC).

Among the promoted individuals was Jerry Atta, the Zone’s Public Relations Officer, who ascended from Superintendent of Customs (SC) to Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC).

Zone “C” Comptroller, Kayode Kolade, attributed the remarkable seizures to the unwavering commitment, resilience, and dedication of his men and officers. Seized items included pangolin scales, foreign parboiled rice, cannabis sativa (Indian hemp), counterfeit pharmaceutical products, tramadol, used vehicles, used tyres, used clothing, and explosive raw materials.

Comptroller Kolade highlighted the financial recovery achieved through interventions in combating fraudulent activities at seaports, amounting to One Hundred and Fifty-Two Million, Four Hundred and Ninety-Two Thousand, Two Hundred and Fourteen Naira (N152,492,214.00).

While decorating the promoted officers, Comptroller Kolade urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and continue justifying the confidence placed in them by the Nigeria Customs Service.

He expressed gratitude to Comptroller-General Wale Adeniyi for his continuous support and fatherly guidance, which contributed to the success and promotion of officers.

In a statement, Jerry Atta, the newly promoted Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) and Public Relations Officer for NCS FOU “C,” conveyed appreciation to Comptroller-General Wale Adeniyi and the NCS Board for the privilege of the promotions.

CSC Atta emphasized the new responsibilities accompanying their elevated ranks and urged colleagues to improve performance to meet the Service’s ambitious target of N5.7 trillion.
