Customs Boss Offers Condolences To Families Of Fallen Officers At Kebbi Area Command

The Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has extended his heartfelt condolences, on behalf of the entire Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) fraternity, to the bereaved families of Inspector of Customs Alhaji Kabiru Shehu and Customs Assistant Abdullahi Muhammad from NCS Kebbi Area Command.

He also conveyed his sympathies to the Government of Kebbi State, following the tragic loss of these dedicated officers who bravely served their nation.

The two officers tragically lost their lives on August 24, 2023, while engaged in a stop-and-search operation along Bunza – Dakingari – Koko Road.

In acknowledging the daily risks faced by Customs officers who safeguard the nation’s borders, the Acting CGC emphasized the commitment of the NCS under his leadership to stand united with the families of the fallen officers during this period of profound grief.

“In this time of sorrow, we recognize the void their departure has left, both personally and within our Customs community. May the memory of their bravery, sacrifice, and service offer solace to their loved ones and motivate us all to uphold the principles they epitomized,” Mr. Adeniyi remarked.

Commending the swift response of the Kebbi Area Command in initiating a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators, the Acting CGC assured the public of the NCS’s unwavering support in bringing those responsible for this reprehensible act to justice.

Mr. Adeniyi also expressed gratitude for the unwavering solidarity and cooperation extended by the Government and citizens of Kebbi state, under the esteemed leadership of His Excellency Mohammed Nasir Idris.

He emphasized the crucial role of community engagement in the collective pursuit of safety and security, urging all citizens to actively contribute to these shared endeavors.

On behalf of the entire officers and personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Acting CGC reaffirmed the commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of the nation’s borders.
