The Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), the umbrella body for journalists covering Nigeria’s security and justice sectors, has elected a new executive team to lead the association for the next three years. The election, which took place on Friday, May 16, 2025, was held at the Mike Okiro Press Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, and attracted journalists from major media houses across the country.
Olalekan Olabulo of *The Tribune* was re-elected as President, having previously served a tenure in the same position. Evelyn Usman of *Vanguard* was also returned as Vice President, while Chiemelie Ezeobi of *ThisDay* retained her seat as Treasurer, unopposed.
Other elected officials include Ismaila Oguntade of *Leadership* as Financial Secretary and Taiwo Jimoh of *New Telegraph*, who was elected Public Relations Officer and Auditor, also unopposed. Joshua Uloko of *City Pride Newspaper* emerged as Secretary, while Titilope Joseph of *Daily Independent* was also elected into the secretariat team.
The oath of office was administered by legal practitioner Barrister Yinka Sanni, who charged the newly elected officials to uphold the principles of ethical journalism and professional integrity. He reminded them of their dual responsibility to both the CRAN constitution and the broader ideals of truth, accountability, and solidarity within the journalism profession.
The election marks a new chapter for CRAN as the association continues its mission of fostering responsible reportage within Nigeria’s security and justice beats.
