CP Ronke Nurat Okunade Assumes Duty As New Head of Police Special Fraud Unit, Lagos

The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi-Lagos, has announced the official assumption of duty by CP Ronke Nurat Okunade, fsi, as the new Commissioner of Police in charge of the Unit. She took over the reins on April 9, 2025, following the retirement of her predecessor, CP Godwin Ayotunde Omodeinde, psc, mnips, on April 4, 2025.

CP Okunade becomes the 31st Commissioner of Police to head the Unit, bringing with her over three decades of experience in various strategic roles across the Nigeria Police Force. A native of Ogbomosho in Oyo State, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan.

Since her enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, CP Okunade has served in several capacities including Commandant of the Provost Department at Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos; DPO in Apapa and Apata Divisions; Acting Area Commander at Ebute Meta; Assistant Commissioner of Administration in Lagos Command; and Deputy Commissioner of Administration in both FCID Annex Lagos and Cross River State Command. Before her current posting, she was the Commissioner of Police in charge of General Investigation, FCID Annex, Lagos.

Her professional development includes training in areas such as Community Policing, Human Rights, Strategic Leadership, and Comprehensive Criminology Management. She is also a Fellow of the National Institute for Security Studies.

During a reception at the Unit, CP Okunade expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for the confidence reposed in her. She assured that the Unit would uphold professionalism and transparency in accordance with the law.

She also appealed to members of the public and stakeholders to extend their cooperation and support to the Unit in its mission to combat financial crimes.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by DSP Ovie K. Ewhubare, ANIPR, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Unit.
