CP Orutugu Leads Patrol In Nkwelle, Honoured With Strategic Crime Fighter Award

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc, MNIPS, PhD, on Monday, April 28, 2025, led a high-level security patrol under the ongoing Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening public safety and stamping out kidnapping in the state.

During the patrol, the Police Commissioner made a significant stop at the 3-3 area of the Nkwelle Ezunaka community, where he engaged directly with key stakeholders including estate chairmen, private security personnel, and respected community leaders. The visit was part of the command’s broader security advocacy, designed to deepen police-community cooperation for more efficient and people-focused policing.

Operation Udo Ga Chi—translated as Peace Must Reign—has been at the forefront of the command’s mission to maintain law and order through increased police visibility, rapid response, and intelligence-driven operations.

In recognition of his visible commitment to community engagement and crime-fighting efforts, stakeholders in Nkwelle presented CP Orutugu with an award, naming him a Strategic Crime Fighter. The gesture was seen as a vote of confidence in the Police Command’s efforts to restore and sustain peace across the region.

In his remarks, CP Orutugu expressed gratitude to the community and reiterated the Command’s commitment to delivering improved and professional policing services. He dedicated the award to victims of police misconduct, acknowledging the need for continuous reforms and people-centred policing.

The visit and award presentation marked another milestone in the Command’s drive to build trust, reduce criminal activity, and foster a secure environment for residents of Anambra State.
