Commissioner of Police (CP) Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered a thorough investigation into the murder of three individuals and the serious injury of five others at Isionye Land, a boundary area between Enugu Ukwu and Nwafia, on September 9, 2024.

The violent incident occurred around 2 p.m., with preliminary reports indicating that the victims were deceived into coming to the area under the pretense of a land transaction. Once there, they were ambushed and attacked with firearms and machetes by armed hoodlums.

In response to the tragic event, CP Itam has called for calm and assured the public that law enforcement agencies are taking swift action. Police operatives have recovered an abandoned Sienna vehicle used by the perpetrators. This recovery is expected to provide crucial leads in the ongoing investigation.

The injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment, and their testimonies are playing a significant role in advancing the investigation. The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the morgue for examination.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that further updates on the investigation will be provided as they become available. The police are committed to ensuring that those responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice.
