The Commissioner of Police Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, has issued a statement urging port users, the business community, and the general public to scrutinize information encountered in electronic and print media. He emphasized the importance of being cautious about fake and sensational news circulating about the scheduled protest, warning that such misinformation could misguide peaceful protesters and incite violence.
In his address, CP Ishola reassured the public of the command’s commitment to adhering to the rules of engagement and international best practices in upholding fundamental human rights. He expressed gratitude to critical maritime stakeholders, unions, and the business community for their ongoing cooperation.
The command also issued a stern warning to any hoodlums planning to infiltrate the protest to cause chaos. CP Ishola made it clear that any attempts to cause destruction to port facilities, block roads, or make unauthorized entrances into port complexes would be met with strong resistance.
