CP Okunade Urges Special Fraud Unit Officers To Uphold Professionalism, Human Rights

The Commissioner of Police, Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi-Lagos, CP Okunade Ronke Nurat, fsi, has emphasized the importance of professionalism, respect for human rights, and effective supervision during a strategic meeting with Team Managers of the Unit.

Addressing officers at the Unit’s headquarters, CP Okunade charged them to maintain the highest standards of conduct in their dealings with the public, stressing that civility and accountability are vital to building trust and delivering quality policing services.

She reminded officers of the need to respect fundamental human rights as provided in Chapter IV of the Nigerian Constitution and to comply with the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015, particularly in ensuring the welfare of suspects in custody.

“Civility, respect for human dignity, and strict adherence to the rule of law are non-negotiable. Officers must ascertain the condition of suspects before and after detention as part of their duty to uphold justice,” she said.

CP Okunade further urged senior officers to take responsibility for the conduct of their subordinates, noting that accountability and supervision play a critical role in maintaining discipline and enhancing the unit’s effectiveness.

Reaffirming the PSFU’s commitment to integrity and responsiveness, the Commissioner stressed that the Unit would continue to strengthen ethical standards and operational efficiency in the fight against fraud and financial crimes.
