Anambra State Police Command is delighted to announce the assumption of duty of CP Obono Nnaghe Itam as the 34th Commissioner of Police of the Command. This appointment, made by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, follows the retirement of CP Aderemi Adeoye on May 1, 2024, after 35 years of dedicated service to the nation.
CP Obono Nnaghe Itam, a native of Yakkur LGA in Cross River State, was born on June 16, 1967. He joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a cadet Assistant Superintendent at the Nigeria Police Academy Annex Kaduna. With a BSc in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Calabar and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Port Harcourt, CP Obono Nnaghe Itam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role.
Throughout his illustrious career, CP Obono Nnaghe Itam has held various positions across the country, including patrol and guard officer in Rivers State, Divisional Police Officer in Cross River State, and roles in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). His extensive training and accolades, including the United Nations Medal of Service, reflect his dedication and commitment to service.
As the new Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Obono Nnaghe Itam is determined to prioritize proactive policing strategies and community engagement to ensure the safety and security of the state. He solicits the support and cooperation of the public in combating crime and fostering a secure environment for all residents.
Beyond his professional endeavors, CP Obono Nnaghe Itam enjoys hobbies such as conference presentations, farming, community service, and writing. He is happily married with children.
