The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has commenced a comprehensive security assessment and anti-sit-at-home advocacy campaign across all 21 Local Government Areas in Anambra State. This initiative aims to strengthen security measures, encourage community cooperation with law enforcement, and promote public safety throughout the state.
The campaign began in Awka South Local Government Area, where CP Itam met with local leaders, including executive council members, traditional rulers, community presidents, youth leaders, Anambra State Vigilante operatives, and Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) members. In his address, he urged the community to collaborate with the police, adopt sustainable security practices, and promptly report any suspicious activity. Residents were encouraged to use the command’s emergency number, 07039194332, to report incidents requiring immediate response.
During the meeting, CP Itam also addressed a recent murder case in Nibo and Ifite, assuring stakeholders that investigations were underway and that suspects had already been identified.
The chairman of Awka South Local Government, Hon. Prince Chinedu Okafor, pledged on behalf of the local leaders to support the police and security agencies in efforts to ensure the safety of residents.
The anti-sit-at-home patrol, led by CP Itam, extended to various locations, including the divisional headquarters in Ogidi, Obosi, Okpoko, Harbour, and Awada, reinforcing the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.
The Anambra State Police Command, through Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reiterated the importance of community collaboration in fostering a safe environment for all.
