The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, today joined high-profile dignitaries at the first anniversary celebration of the commissioning of the permanent site of Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) in Nnewi. The event also marked the launch of several new projects within the hospital.
CP Itam was accompanied by the Honorable Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, CON, along with other distinguished guests, including the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, His Royal Highness Igwe Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu, and prominent businessman Sir Emeka Offor.
During his address, CP Itam emphasized the Anambra State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining security in and around the hospital facility. He noted the critical importance of NAUTH as a healthcare infrastructure that provides essential, life-saving medical treatments and services.
“The Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital is a vital institution that significantly contributes to the health and well-being of our community. The Anambra State Police Command is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of everyone within this facility,” CP Itam stated.
The Commissioner of Police also conducted an assessment of the security measures currently in place at the hospital, assuring continuous support and improvement in the deployment of security personnel to safeguard the hospital and its environs.
The event highlighted the significant progress and development achieved by NAUTH over the past year, with the inauguration of various projects aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery. The presence of top government officials and local dignitaries underscored the importance of the hospital to the region and its role in providing advanced medical care to the people of Anambra State.
