Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has announced the activation of an onslaught operation targeting the abductors of Father Basil Gbuzuo and Professor Sydney Onyeagu of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNIZIK), following their release unharmed by the kidnappers.

The decision to launch the operation came after the safe return of the two victims, who were abducted by unknown gunmen. CP Itam emphasized the seriousness with which the Anambra State Police Command views such criminal acts and assured the public of decisive action against the perpetrators.

“The Command is in high spirits and has already activated an onslaught operation against the kidnappers of Father Basil Gbuzuo and Professor Sydney Onyeagu. We are leveraging on available information to frustrate the criminal intentions of non-state actors and reduce crime to the barest minimum in the state,” CP Itam stated.

The release of Father Basil Gbuzuo and Professor Sydney Onyeagu was met with relief and gratitude from their families, colleagues, and the wider community. CP Itam’s swift response underscores the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
