CP Ikioye Orutugu Intervenes In Land Dispute At Ogu Clan, Anambra, Seeks Stakeholders’ Input For Resolution

The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc MNIPS PhD, intervened on April 26, 2025, in a land dispute between parties at Ogu Clan, Ubarusioye Village, Nando. The CP emphasized the importance of peaceful, community-driven solutions and sought the involvement of relevant stakeholders to address the issue and prevent any further escalation.

During the meeting, which was held at the State Police Command Headquarters in Awka, CP Orutugu engaged with the parties involved in the dispute, highlighting the crucial role of collaboration and dialogue in resolving land conflicts. He expressed his commitment to ensuring lasting peace and stability in the community.

In a significant development, the parties involved in the dispute signed an undertaking, pledging not to cause any further breach of peace while awaiting the outcome of ongoing consultations with stakeholders.

The event was attended by key figures from the community, including Mr. Alexander Nwabueze, Chairman of Umunnamoke Kindred; Dr. Chijioke Ifejika, Chairman of Adagbe-Ogu Kindred; Mr. Ebenezer Chibuzor, representing the Chairman of Ukwuorji Kindred; the Divisional Police Officer of Otuocha, and other village representatives.

The intervention is part of the Anambra State Police Command’s broader efforts to promote peace and security through its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) initiative. This initiative is integrated into the recently launched Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping program, which seeks to curb criminal activities in the state through collaboration with other security agencies.
