Corps Commander Education Strengthens Ties With 81 Division


The Corps Commander Education (CCE), Major General Peter Oguntola, on Tuesday, February 20, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Farouk Umar Mijinyawa, at the Division’s Headquarters Conference Room in Lagos.

During the visit, Major General Oguntola emphasized the significance of strategic partnerships in advancing the objectives of the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC). He outlined key initiatives, including human capital development, the revitalization of command schools, and enhanced collaboration with stakeholders. The CCE also commended the GOC for his commitment and timely interventions in command secondary schools within the Division’s area of responsibility, which have positively impacted their academic development.

In response, Major General Mijinyawa congratulated the CCE on his appointment and praised his leadership style. He reaffirmed his commitment to improving the standards of Command and Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) schools within the Division’s jurisdiction, assuring the CCE of continued support for NAEC’s initiatives.

In a related event, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Michael Oamen, also visited 81 Division Headquarters at 3 Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. He commended the Division for its relentless efforts in maintaining security across Lagos and Ogun States.

Rear Admiral Oamen acknowledged the Division’s proactive role in safeguarding lives and property and reiterated his readiness to enhance inter-agency collaboration in addressing security challenges in the region.

Responding, Major General Mijinyawa congratulated Rear Admiral Oamen on his appointment as FOC Western Naval Command. He commended the FOC’s efforts in combating illegal activities and addressing security threats under Operation AWATSE. The GOC assured the FOC of continued cooperation to strengthen the security framework between their commands.

Both visits were attended by principal staff officers and unit commanders from the Division. The events featured the presentation of souvenirs, the signing of the visitors’ book, and group photographs, further reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and shared commitment to national development.
