CONMMEP Elects New Executive As Udo Onyeka Becomes President


The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) has elected a new executive team, with Comrade Udo Onyeka, Publisher of *News Business*, emerging as the new President. Onyeka, who previously served as Vice President, won a keenly contested election, taking over from Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah after his three-year tenure.

Other elected executives include:

– **Vice President**: Mr. Femi Okonofua
– **General Secretary**: Mr. Bolaji Israel
– **Assistant Secretary**: LOD Onyeji
– **Treasurer**: Ms. Adeola Oluwole
– **Financial Secretary**: Mr. Isaac Ajiboye
– **Public Relations Officer (PRO)**: Mcanthony Onuoha
– **Welfare Officer**: Ms. Ilebani Titilayo
– **Provost**: Izuchukwu Ahuchaogu

In his acceptance speech, Onyeka assured members of his commitment to advancing CONMMEP, emphasizing professionalism, transparency, and member welfare. He pledged to foster productivity and accountability within the organization.

Outgoing President Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah commended members for their peaceful participation in the election and urged the new leadership to uphold unity and progress.

The election saw Onyeka defeat Dili Nicholas Utomi for the presidency, while Femi Okonofua won the vice-presidential contest against Ms. Ann Ejuka. Mcanthony Onuoha was returned unopposed as PRO, and Alfred Omenihu stepped down for Bolaji Israel, who became General Secretary.

The election process was widely praised for its peaceful and transparent conduct, reflecting CONMMEP’s dedication to democratic values and organizational growth.
