CONMMEP Concludes Arrangement, Sets To Host Workshop On Port Community Engagement

The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) has finalized arrangements for its one-day workshop aimed at fostering sustainable development through effective port community engagement.

Themed “Port Community Engagement: Building Partnerships for Sustainable Development,” the workshop will provide a platform for maritime stakeholders, port communities, government agencies, and corporate entities to discuss challenges and opportunities for enhanced collaboration. It will also address issues of neglect in host communities and promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that benefit these communities.

Initially scheduled for November 28 at the Marriott Hotel Ikeja, the event will now take place at Rockview Hotel and Suites, Apapa, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10 AM.

The workshop will feature notable dignitaries, including the Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, as the Chief Guest of Honour, and the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Bashir Adeniyi, MFR, as the Special Guest of Honour. The Royal Fathers of the Day are the Ojora of Ijora Kingdom, HRM Oba Abdul Fatai Aremu Aromire, and the Olu of Iwa and Apapa Kingdom, HRM Oba Moroof Oyekunle Atanda Amodu Tijani Oluwa.

In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mcanthony Udochukwu Onuoha, CONMMEP reiterated its commitment to promoting balanced and unbiased reporting on Nigeria’s maritime sector. The group emphasized that the workshop would serve as a platform to chart a new course for development and strengthen partnerships between port communities and the maritime industry.

Stakeholders, invitees, and all participants are assured of a robust and impactful event, with CONMMEP optimistic about the workshop’s success.
