Concerns Arise In Nteje-Abogu Over President-General’s Controversial Court Affidavit

Tensions have escalated in the Nteje-Abogu community following revelations of a court affidavit filed by the community’s President-General (PG) at the Otuocha High Court on January 24, 2025. The affidavit, sworn on behalf of the entire community, has sparked outrage due to a lack of consultation with stakeholders and its contentious content.

According to Dr. Emma Ezeagbo, a prominent voice in the community, the affidavit was neither presented at any Nteje Development Union (NDU) general meeting nor discussed with the broader community before its filing. This unilateral action has raised concerns about representation and the potential implications of the document’s claims.

Dr. Ezeagbo has urged community members, both at home and abroad, to obtain copies of the affidavit for thorough review. “This is not a matter to be ignored,” he said, emphasizing the need for the community to understand the statements made on their behalf and the potential consequences for Nteje-Abogu’s future.

Allegations of possible forgery have further complicated the issue. Dr. Ezeagbo suggested that the PG’s signature on the affidavit may not be authentic, citing the absence of any mention of the document during an emergency community meeting on February 1, 2025.

The controversy has exposed deep divisions within the Nteje-Abogu community. Some have called for the drafting of a counter-affidavit to ensure that dissenting voices are represented in court. Dr. Ezeagbo has encouraged unity in addressing the issue, urging the community to focus on the content of the affidavit rather than personal attacks on the PG.

Despite the uproar, Dr. Ezeagbo acknowledged the PG’s past contributions during his first year in office, calling for accountability while emphasizing the need to support the PG in navigating the current crisis.

Beyond the affidavit, Dr. Ezeagbo highlighted the need for Nteje-Abogu to prioritize unity and progress. He lamented that internal conflicts have hindered the community’s development while neighboring towns advance their political and social agendas.

In a bid to inspire action, Dr. Ezeagbo reiterated that it is time for the Ifite Nteje clan to produce the next Igwe-Abogu III, calling for an end to what he described as manipulative tactics within the leadership.

The unfolding situation in Nteje-Abogu underscores the importance of dialogue, accountability, and community involvement in decision-making processes. As the community grapples with the implications of the affidavit, stakeholders are urged to prioritize unity and transparency to safeguard Nteje-Abogu’s future.

Dr. Ezeagbo concluded his letter with a message of hope, encouraging the community to use this crisis as an opportunity to come together and chart a course for sustainable development.

Nteje-Abogu, he emphasized, belongs to everyone, and every member has a role to play in ensuring its progress and integrity.
