In his inaugural address, Comptroller Onyeka expressed his commitment to advancing the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs, focusing on collaboration, consolidation, and innovation. He pledged to build on the strong legacy of his predecessor, Comptroller DA Nnadi mni, particularly in areas of revenue generation, anti-smuggling initiatives, and the continued infrastructural transformation of the command.

Comptroller Onyeka emphasized the importance of collaboration with all stakeholders, including security agencies, freight forwarders, terminal operators, and the media, to sustain and expand the achievements of the command. His leadership is characterized by a strong work ethic, a commitment to strict trade compliance, and a focus on delivering results through innovative approaches.

ACG Nnadi mni, during the handover, expressed his gratitude to the officers and stakeholders for their support throughout his tenure and urged them to extend the same cooperation to Comptroller Onyeka. This marks a significant improvement from the previous year, where the command generated N716,478,454.00. Furthermore, the duty paid value (DPV) of goods seized at the port had risen significantly, from N1.05 billion in 2023 to N4.5 billion in 2024, reflecting a remarkable increase in anti-smuggling efforts.

ACG Nnadi concluded by promising to remain available at the headquarters to offer guidance on any matters that would contribute to the growth and advancement of the command and the Nigeria Customs Service.
