Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan has officially assumed his role as the Customs Area Controller of the Port Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command, following the recent promotion of his predecessor, Saidu Abba Yusuf, to Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) of Customs. The handover ceremony took place on Friday, marked by a commitment to enhancing revenue collection and trade facilitation.
Speaking at the brief ceremony, Comptroller Daniyan emphasized his dedication to fully implementing the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act (NCSA) 2023. He highlighted the importance of preventing revenue leakages and achieving government economic goals through the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
Comptroller Daniyan, addressing officers and stakeholders, promised to leverage his extensive experience, including his previous role as Deputy Comptroller in charge of revenue at PTML. He urged stakeholders to ensure compliance by making accurate declarations and timely duty payments to build a track record of integrity, which is essential for benefiting from opportunities created by the Comptroller General of Customs.
In line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Daniyan pledged to build on existing customs-community relations through regular stakeholder engagements and to promote initiatives such as the Time Release Study (TRS). He also aims to guide compliant stakeholders toward achieving Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status and benefiting from the Advanced Ruling scheme.
ACG Yusuf, expressing confidence in Daniyan’s capabilities, thanked the Comptroller General of Customs for his supportive leadership and described his successor as a competent officer who will advance the command’s achievements. He called for increased cooperation from importers, licensed customs agents, freight forwarders, and the management of Grimaldi with the new CAC.
Comptroller Daniyan’s extensive career includes roles in Sokoto, Kebbi, Apapa, Borno/Yobe, and various departments within the NCS Headquarters. He has served in positions related to revenue, valuation, and post-clearance audit, among others. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from Ambrose Alli University, a Masters in Architecture from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and another Masters in Facilities Management from the University of Lagos.
As a member of the Nigeria Institute of Architects (MNIA), Daniyan is committed to continuous learning and has attended numerous courses on valuation, classification, and document preparation. He has also contributed to training new customs recruits and has participated in Operation Haske Biu at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji.
Comptroller Daniyan, known for his dedication to the service, is married with children and enjoys playing football, chess, and golf.
