In a coordinated operation today, a joint team comprising the Nigerian Police, Military, and the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) successfully raided a criminal hideout in Umuduru, Ihiala, resulting in the rescue of a kidnap victim.
The operation follows the arrest of a suspect several weeks ago, whose identity has been withheld for security reasons. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of a notorious kidnapping gang that has been terrorizing the region, particularly in the Ihiala area.
Acting on the information provided, the combined security forces launched a targeted operation in Umuduru, Ihiala, where they located and dismantled the criminal den. The kidnapped victim, who was found unharmed, has since been debriefed by authorities and safely reunited with their family.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the success of the operation in a statement. He noted that the rescue was a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities in the state. SP Ikenga assured the public that operations are still ongoing, with further updates to be communicated as the situation develops.
